Is Jesus God or just a prophet?
— Jethro (Ghana)
At various times in Jesus' life on earth He made claims and acted in ways which are exclusive to God. Prominent among these are John 10:30, where he claimed He and the Father are one and of the same essence; John 8:57-59, where He claimed His prominence and pre-existence over Abraham and referred to Himself as “I AM”—an exclusive name of God (Exodus 3:13,14).
Also, in Mark 3:5-12, Jesus claimed to have authority to forgive sins. Forgiveness of sins is an exclusive authority belonging to God (Isaiah 43:25, Micah 7:18, Psalm 103:12) but Jesus exercised that authority on earth and claimed to support it with the healing of the paralytic in question. And the person was indeed healed.
So clearly Jesus did claim to be & acted as God. Also Apostle Paul supports this (Philippians 2.5-9,) and called Jesus “our great God” (Titus 2.11-13). Thomas worship Jesus and called Him “My LORD and My God” (John 20.26-28).
No Prophet will make such claims or have others refer to him as such as Jesus did. Jesus cannot be just a Prophet. He's more, He's God who came in flesh and blood to pay for our sins through his death and resurrection, in order reconcile us to the Father above (John 14:6).
